SEASON: Mid-late season

QUALITIES: Very sweet, juicy, spicy-tart grape that produces a ruby red wine

Cabernet Sauvignon

DESCRIPTION: Black, thick-skinned
SEASON: Late
USE: Wine
QUALITIES: Produces a full-bodied, fruit-forward wine with high tannin content

Canadice

DESCRIPTION: Red, seedless, slip skin
SEASON: Early-late
USE: Wine, juice, table
QUALITIES: An excellent, sweet table grape

Catawba

DESCRIPTION: Red-copper, seeded, slip skin
SEASON: Late
USE: Wine, juice, table; may be blended with Concords for wine
QUALITIES: A sweet, rich, musky flavored grape

Chardonel

DESCRIPTION: White, seeded, slip skin
SEASON: Late
USE: Wine; may be blended with Concords to produce a blush wine
QUALITIES: Produces a high quality wine with varietal character

Concord

DESCRIPTION: Blue, seeded, slip skin
SEASON: Mid-late season
USE: Wine, juice, table
QUALITIES: Highly aromatic; strong musky flavor

Delaware

DESCRIPTION: Pink, seeded, slip skin
SEASON: Early-late
USE: Wine, juice; may be blended with Concords for wine; widely used for champagne
QUALITIES: Makes a light pink wine

Frontenac

DESCRIPTION: small to medium, blue/black berries in medium to large clusters
SEASON: Early-mid
USE: Red wine
QUALITIES: Distinctive cherry aroma and palate of blackberry, black currant, and plum. Can be made into a variety of wine styles, including rosé, red, and port

Himrod

DESCRIPTION: White-golden, seedless, slip skin
SEASON: Early
USE: Table
QUALITIES: An excellent table grape with sweet rich flavor

Marquette

DESCRIPTION: Small to medium berries in loose clusters
SEASON: Early-mid
USE: Red wine
QUALITIES: Notes of cherry, berry, black pepper, and spice. Finished wines are complex, with attractive ruby color, pronounced tannins
